August 27, 1986 The Honolulu Advertiser Reuter photo Aquino reviews a guard of honor in Singapore. Aquino out to fight trade pro protectionism ism United Press International Philippine President Corazon Aquino said in Singapore yesterday that her government will work to unify noncommunist nations of Southeast Asia to fight an "increasingly protectionist world market." Aquino, on her first trip abroad since taking power in the civilian-backed military revolt that toppled Ferdinand Marcos in February, arrived in Singapore after a two-day visit to Indonesia. Aquino said the ideal of "fostering regional interdependence has found new life from the common injuries that have been inflicted on our countries by an increasingly protectionist world market." "The ideal of free trade is neither new nor imported to our region. Our region of Southeast Asia was in fact a free-trade zone for centuries," Aquino said at a state banquet at the Presidential Palace in Singapore. "Those were simpler times, of course." Aquino paid a courtesy call on President Wee Kim Wee and later held talks with Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

In Jakarta earlier, Aquino signed a memorandum of understanding with Indonesian President Suharto to work toward establishing a tariff-free common market among the six members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Brunei. In other news related to Aquino and the Philippines: Defense Minister Juan Ponce Enrile said in Manila that he has no intention of staying on in the public service ESPRIT Park in Front or behind bldg. Kapiolani at Atkinson Phone if Aquino reorganizes the government and offers him another Cabinet post. "I am not accepting any other Enrile said position in in government," response a question during an open forum after addressing a labor group. "It just happened that I participated in the events of February when our people and the military worked together to remove an old regime and install a new regime, and it just happened that I was the minister of defense at that time and I am still the minister of defense.

"When the situation arises that there will be a reorganization of the government, I will beg off (if appointed to a new position)." The Audit Commission announced in Manila that it will file corruption charges against former National Assembly speaker Nicanor Yniguez in connection with unaccountedfor funds totaling $1.9 million. Commission Chairman Teofisto Guingona told a news conference that malversation charges would be filed against Yniguez after he failed to give an accounting of the funds advanced to his office from March 1985 up to the fall of the Marcos regime in February. It was disclosed in Manila that a Moslem separatist leader is returning home next week from self-imposed exile in Saudi Arabia for talks with Aquino. Agapito "Butz" Aquino, a brother-in-law of the Philippine president, said in a telephone interview that Nur Misuari, chief of the separatist Moro National Liberation Front, is to preside over a congress of Moslem leaders Sale Ends 9-1-86 Blue Jea, 941-1313 Bikinis ERNEST Y.K.
