Kono at 5 p.m. tomorrow at the Hilo Hongwanji Mission. Mr. Kono, 31, of 196 Halai Hilo, a former Constitutional Convention delegate from the Big Island, died June 12 of a heart attack in South Africa. He was there in a Rotary International study exchange program.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be Made to the Lawrence Kono Scholarship Fund at the Hawaii Preparatory Academy and the Hilo Hongwanji Mission. He was a graduate of the Hawaii Preparatory Academy, Williams College and the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. and was president and owner of HITCO Moving and Storage Service Co. Mr. Kono was a delegate to the 1978 Constitutional Convention, president of the Kanoelehua Industrial Area Association, chairman of the Hawaii Island Truckers' Standing Rate committee, and a member of the Hawaii County Energy Advisory Council.

He was a YMCA planning director, an associate member of the Sub. Area Health Council, co-founder of the Big Island Hospital Foundation and co-organizer of a petition for a new Hilo Hospital. The son of the late Hiroaki Kono, Mr. Kono is survived by his mother, Elaine, and his maternal grandfather. Satoru Kurisu.
